I've been through this with spokes......S 100 also makes a metal polish that comes in a toothpaste like tube. use it with terrycloth (more aggressive than just cotton). And if that don't cut it(depends on how rusty they are) crumple up aluminum foil and use the polish with it. Most dealers have the S100 polish.....Welcome Home and Thank You

Try knocking down the heavy crust with some WD-40 and steel wool. I've also used SOS pads to get the light stuff off , then polish up with Turtle Wax chrome cleaner and polish. 000 or 0000 steel wool. Thanks for your service.
I have been a fan of Neverdull for years followed up by some wax..As mentioned lot,s of elbow grease..
