It is easy to sell in Craigslist, but expect some scam responses. Don't put your telephone # in ad. If you must, spell a number, e.g.:
555-195-123four.
It is a little bit of a pain to sign up. If you have to, get someone under 35 to help you.

The hardest part of posting an add on ebay is taking good photos, which is really not that difficult unless you're using a 5-year-old cellphone.

I really don't understand what "auction crap" you think the listing agent will handle for the fees they charge.

Some people will get the dealer to change bulbs, or put air in the tires, some people just do it themselves.

I had been doing this for years, but quit a couple of years ago.
The problem is that most sellers want more than their item is worth,
and it turned out to be a giant waste of my time in many cases.
Most felt that if the item didn't sell, then I shouldn't be getting paid, the problem is that whether or not the item sold,
I still had to do all the work.
Take, edit, upload pics, write up the ad, answer emails, etc, it all takes some time.

I even had my neighbor ask me to sell his truck for him, I agreed, but told him I wanted $50 to do the ad. I had a buyer that offered within $200 of his asking price, be he refused to sell. Then the son of a bitch came to my house and wanted his $50 back because it didn't sell. I told him to go pound sand (not that nice really), and he was pissed. Do these people think I work for nothing?
IF I do an ad now, I demand $100-200 (vehicle ads) up front and NON returnable, but if it sells, I will deduct that amount from the 2%-10% of the selling price that I charge (rate depends on the value of the item)

I also found that doing small items is just NOT worth the effort.
If I do a small item for someone now, I demand that they sell it for NO reserve, that way at least I know I will be getting a percentage of something.

I've sold $40K campers, drag cars, most everything, but it is a PITA!
