I'd trike one of his bikes with some sort of wheelchair accommodation before he gets home if he really isn't going to walk again.

I think Sam meant he would trike one of his friend's bikes as a surprise for when he was released from the hospital.

I saw an episode where orange county choppers did that to a bike. Really cool idea. Best wishes and hope he proves the doctors wrong.

Have you ever seen the movie "The Wings of Eagles" with John Wayne portraying a real life person, Spig Wead? He had a friend he called Jughead that wouldn't let him give up on trying to walk again. He eventually could, with help from canes, but at least he fought thru it due to his friend and became a screenplay writer for a lot of WWII Navy movies.

You need to be his Jughead if you can. Whatever you do, don't let him get depressed or give up.
