Twice in the last week, when i tried to start the engine, the alarm went off shortly, then started up. Coming out of a store today, the alarm kept going off. No start. Kept trying and every time i did, the alarm went off. Pull the bypass instructions out of my wallet and tried that. No way would the alarm shut up. Went off every time i turn the ignition switch. Figured the battery needs to be replaced, go back in the store and buy a new one, thinking might as well do it now then when i'm on the road to sturgis. Even with the new battery, the alarm kept going off. By now, several people are watching.
Called the dealer and he said, to turn ignition on, then press BOTH (instruction paper that came with the alarm say "press LEFT button" ) signal light buttons right away to see the flashing display in the odometer, asking for the code.
No go....called dealer back and was told to leave it alone for 10 minutes.
Did that and then it accepted the left and right button, entered the code and it then started up. Haven't had a problem the rest of the day.
Not sure now if the one year old battery was in fact dead or not or if there is something else going on that i should have looked at. I know the instructions are wrong with the left signal button, instead of pressing left and right!
Has this happened to anybody else?

are you sure about the instructions? i know the owners manual is pretty clear on pressing both left and right at the same time. you only press the left button if you are changing the code, and then it is 3 times......
one thing to watch for. if you try to enter the override code but you have a fob with you, it won't work right. if you are in an area where there is radio interference, the signal from the fob to the alarm may be getting interrupted. it might be receiving it intermittently.
next time it happens try this. take your fob about 10 feet away and leave it there and then come back and try the override code. if that doesn't work, then i'm at a loss.

I had the fob 20 feet from the bike, but you are right on the instructions in the manual. It does say to press Both left and right at the same time. I never looked at the manual though, since i had the wallet size instructions handy. They are incorrect.
Hoping that it was the battery and i,m done with this. Got a week to make sure before i leave on the 3rd.
Thanks for the help.
