I would like to make my bike louder, and don't necessarily want to pay a whole lot to have the aircleaner changed out and whatever else is involved in changing the whole pipe. I just would rather hear the exhaust when riding rather the engine noice. Waking up neighbors would be cool too.
What are the loudest slip-ons? The Harley site lists several. I ride the '07 softail custom.
Your bike & mine are close except for the chrome and year, and engine cu. I too wanted the "Harley Sound" and feel to my ride. I changed the air cleaner, did the stage one download, and ordered a set of RUSH slip on pipes for my 06 Standard. I did the PCIII with a dyno tune and now my bike runs like a raped ape! My friend rode it and called it a "Monster"
But I like very much the sound and looks of my RUSH Pipes...

If you want loud slipons, you will need to go somewhere else than HD.
If you DONT change out your breather, etc, and ONLY put on some other slipons you will not have to deal with remapping, etc.
Or just do what I do. Hole saw on an extension and drill those things out.
1 1/8" hole saw works wonders.
Check J&P cycle for slipons. Many brands there.
Bub Jughuggers......not the loudest, but still DAMN LOUD and a quality system. It is a full exhaust, not a slip-on, but you should be able to find a set on ebay for a good price......and they look really good on the softail custom
I seen some Vance and Hines and they do look nice. I didn't realize they had slip ons. I'll look closer at their site. I only saw full systems at first glance.
I never heard of Rush. I'll check those out too.
Are Harley slip ons just weak or something? Or are they overpriced?

they're both, I put some cycle shack slip-ons on and they sound pretty good.
