Looking at a Couple of Totally Different New Models
I'm not looking for anyone to make a decision for me, I'm looking for owner's opinions. I have an '85, original paint, etc. FXRS. I'm looking at new HDs (tire-kicking). My first thought was the SuperGlide Custom. In fact, that was my final decision. But then, I saw the Softail Slim. I have NEVER been a softie fan. but I really like this bike. Any owner input?
Not an owner, but I sure agree that those are fine looking bikes. One of my absolute favorites in the lineup. Plus there are aftermarket cruise controls for Softails, but none for Dynas. That's a big deal to me.
FWIW - last weekend I went to the dealer, all set to buy a Super Glide Custom. After test riding it, I wasn't convinced. It seemed to be a bit more "buzzy" vibration-wise than I expected. Was walking out of the dealer and the sales guy says try the Street Bob. I say "no, not interested". I didn't like the bars, and the spoke wheels. But I rode it anyway. Bought it on the spot. Yes it still vibrates (it's a Dyna), but IMO, the ride was better than the SGC. Must say I surprised myself, but I really was impressed with the bike.
I've got a Street Bob, which as tcatnat pointed out is a Superglide with a trim package. I really like the looks of the Slim, and went to the dealer with the intention of buying one. I dragged the footboards while cornering on the test ride, so I changed my mind and kept the dyna. If you like to ride in a spirited manner, the dyna is the way to go.

This! Softails have limited lean angle and the slim has the least amount of lean out of all the softails. I love the slim but I also don't ride aggressively.
