I 'gotta agree with Dave. This isn't the time or place to lecture on the helmet debate. I'm sure you all meant no disrespect though. Thoughts and prayers for their family.

Please allow me to point out that there is more to that article. Take a guess how many of these 10 deaths were on bikes. Why are some of you posting stuff that is misleading and wrong. last year they did indeed set a new record for deaths at 21, but we do not currently have 10 dead bikers down here as some of the posters are going right along with. Read the article in it's entirety......I don't know what the point of implying that there have already been 10 bike week deaths when it's not true. Here's the link:

Elsewhere, a series of accidents took eight lives late Saturday and early Sunday.
- About 11:25 p.m. Saturday, a patrol car driven by a sheriff's deputy collided with a Plymouth minivan in Haines City. The driver of the van and two of his four passengers were killed.
- At 12:10. a.m. Sunday, a man lost control of the sport utility vehicle he was driving on Florida's Turnpike, crashing into a pole. The driver and two passengers were killed.
- At 5:27. a.m. Sunday, a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck a tree in Maitland. Killed were the driver and his passenger.

And yes, they had three kids.

P.S. I wonder if the 8 people in the cars were wearing helmets, fire retardent suits, good driving gloves and shoes and of course a HANS device.

Accidents happen. This is a bad deal, but what the heck was he pushing his tires for if they were worn out as suggested. Was he just ignorant, or was he just being cheap. I for one would not risk riding on tires that are worn out. The dealer says "change him" and I do...small price to pay...

God bless his 3 kids...and rest of family

that sucks...I've come close a few times...funny thing is the close calls weremore frequent in Daytona than here in NYC, despite the crazy cabbies. Factor in it all happened insie or a week in FLA and you really get a picture. Sorry, no offense to the FLA locals, but its a nice place to visit but I wouldn't wanna ride there yr round.

Condolences and prayersto the families.

Death wish? Ignorant? Cheap? With all due respect, but some of you guys are a real piece of work. As has been mentioned, this thread is neither the time nor place for such insensitivities. The guy and his wife have passed in what was a tragic incident. Respects - not characterizations or slanderous remarks - are in order in my view.

Must have missed my initial post on this subject. I clearly stated my condolences for the family and friends. It's a horrible thing.

That said, I dont think tires "just seperate" over nite. Sounds to me like he wasn't maintaining his bike properly. If that makes me insensitive, so be it...I think it's a valid question....tho it's kind of moot now...
