Local dealer is having a 25% off apparel sale today. I'm going to purchase an FXRG jacket but I'm having a hard time decidingon leather or nylon. Nylon is $150 less expensive after the discount. Do any of you with experience on this have an opinion?
I have the FXRG leather, it is an excellent, high quality jacket, but that sucker is warm. I find it tough to wear in the summer. I ride all year and it is great in the cooler months. I am glad I purchased the jacket but am looking for something different to wear in warmer (summer)weather.
I just rode from Raleigh to Daytona and Back in the Nylon jacket and pants.
VERY waterproof and fairly warm.
As I understand it the leather is water resistant instead of waterproof. I have a Harley leather jacket so I was not looking for another leather. From what I have heard the Nylon will hold up well in a fall.
I have the FXRG leather. It's not something I would even consider wearingduring the summer. It's a great cool/cold weatherjacket. But, I'm one of those guys that any temp obove 32 is comfortable so the summercan bebrutal for me. It's very comfortable when riding but...
The jacket is not one you would want to carry around after you take it off. It feels like it weights 10 lbs. Guess the padding in thearms etc cause that. You would never leave it on the scoot and walk away. It would grow legs and walk off it 10 seconds.
The climate I'm in (northern NJ) is pretty diverse...meaning it gets freakin cold in the winter and freakin hot in the summer. I ride all year aslong as there's not a threat of black ice or a lot of salt and sand on the roads. I really lke the leather version but at $450 vs. 300 for the nylon is it really worth the extra $150? That's where I'm undecided.
I have the leather one. Someone earlier said the nylon was fairly warm. Leather is very warm at 15-20 degrees. Have not been cold in this jacket. Parts not covered by jacket are covered by electrics. I really enjoy my leather.
