There are beanie helmets that have the ear cover built into the strap. It's mostly for colder weather but the patch definitely cuts down on the wind beating up your ears.
Anything that covers your ears should be an improvement. So, yes, a 3/4 helmet should reduce that buffeting around your ears as would a full face. Do you know someone that has a 3/4 that would be willing to let you take it for a test ride?
I have both, a half and 3/4. The 3/4 makes a big difference in wind and a much quieter ride. You may want to try one on and possibly go to a size larger with the 3/4.
