I have never seen one start at 100 inch and go to 200 inch with nothing inbetween .

If it's a Dial type Snap-on wrench, you rotate the dial until the 0 (zero) is centered over the red needle...then as you apply pressure, the needle will move under the amount of torque you apply.
100 may be the 1st actual number, but there should be hash marks between the 0 and 100. I just checked my Snap-on Dial type inch pound wrench...it is a 0-600 inch pound
The only numbers are the Hundreds, but there are hash marks between the hundred numbers for every 10 inch pounds of force applied.
