Default Bike Theft Recovery Idea / Emergency Tip

I had a pretty good idea that I thought I would share with everyone. Most people do not know the license plate numbers of any of their vehicles including their bikes. If your bike gets stolen, towed, or anything else happens to it, the police are going to need all the information about it including the license plate number. The sooner you can provide this information, the better the chances of recovery. A very simple thing to do to have that information readily available is take a picture of your license plate of all of your vehicles including your bike with your cell phone. Everybody carries a cell phone with a built in camera these days. Since you always have your phone with you, you will always have your license plate number immediately available.

Another thing to do that can help in an emergency is create a new contact in your phone call ICE. ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. Paramedics and other emergency personnel are trained to look for this contact in your phone if they find you unconscious or otherwise unable to provide this information. With that, they can contact your wife or whoever you have listed quickly without having to fumble through all of your contacts trying to figure out who they should contact or notify.

I carry my registration in my wallet, my plate number is on it. Good tip about the emergency contact.

depending on your phone there may be an I.C.E. program in it and all you have to do is enter the numbers

In Ca, police can run your name for vehicles registered to you. Plate/tag info returns instantly.

I have all vehicle info stored as a note in my iPhone. Gives me VIN, plate number, inspection date and plate renewal date and tire size on each vehicle. Easy to keep up with and have it right at my finger tips if I need it.

I keep a password on my iPhone, which will be hard for someone to get into it.
Im not sure if most people know that you can still voice dial by holding the home button.
Here is what I do after my wifes name I add WIFE and do the same with my whole family.
If you were to pick my phone up and say call wife, bro, brother, mom it will call them.
Not sure about other smart phones.

I picked up a good tip here a couple of years ago.

In an accident, your cell phone may be lost or destroyed. Use a label maker and enter your ICE contact and number, then put it on the back side of your driver's license. Wife and I have both done this.

In Ohio you can go to the b.m.v. website and attach emergency contact information to your drivers license.

False info...

LEO's can get all the info with your name if the vehicles is registered in your name.

Hard to use ICE when people have a code to get into their phone.

As already mentioned, most people have passwords on their phones. The best thing I've seen and used is Road ID. If you are unresponsive, we do not have the time to go digging through your wallet or phone. Road ID gives us the basics.

Mine has: name, dob, allergies and a phone number. If anyone needs help with the abbreviations to use, just let me know.
