I have a 97 springer and the oil light came on. Tank looked super low so I added oil. Light didn't go off. I looked in the oil tank, no circulation. pulled the oil filter, put on a new one. Started the bike. No oil in new filter. So I first checked the lifter screen. Super clean. No debris or sludge.
Now I have moved on to the oil pump itself. I have gotten the outer cover off but am having trouble getting the outside drive gear off. I have removed the retaining ring, but the gear doesn't seem to want to come off. Any ideas or tricks on how to get it off? I would have thought it would just slide off.
