Took my bike in to the local dealer for some minor body work after I dumped my bike. Allstate Insr paid for the repair. The dealer had to order a body part, arrived 6 weeks later defective, 2 weeks back and forth with Harley and Allstate, sent to supplier. Supplier is MIA. Dealer cannot get in touch with supplier and my bike is in pieces at dealership. I could have just taken it to a local inde shop and fixed it in a few days.
So I missed riding summer and now early autumn. 4 friggin months of payments, missed weather, and no bike!

Minor body work and a body part. Which model has body parts that require having a bike in pieces especially if it's minor and only requires 1 part? A lower? A side panel? A fender? A tank? I think none so I think this whole thing is BS. Besides that, why would a indie have any better luck getting the elusive body part? If there is some mystery supplier why would he be more responsive to a small time indie than he would be to the MOCO or a dealer? This is a very poor attempt to go fishing.
Can't vouch for the OP, but after I was hit the bike was in the shop from June until October. Pacific Blue Pearl, needed front and rear fenders and all the associated hardware.
Ask the dealer what they would give you to trade the bike in for a new one. This way they can take as long as they need to fix it and you get a new bike to ride immediately.
Moral of the story: If you don't want to wait for repairs, don't wreck the bike.
