Got the itch for a new bike. Current ride is a 2012 Streetglide I have put 15K on in a little over a year. I commute to work most everyday 40 miles, and ride on weekends 300 miles a day max. No 1000 mile trips, just don't have time. I am on my 4th Harley 1999 Dyna Superglide Sport /2001 Deuce/2003/ Roadking Classic and my current Streeglide.

I plan on getting a Indian vintage in a year or so, but want to wait to see how they pan out. The local dealer has a 2013 Heritage Softail 110th Anniversary with a ton of upgrades that caught my eye. Thinking of trading the Streetglide for it. I would ride it for a year and see how the Indians are doing.

I guess my question is will I be happy on a Softail with the type of riding I do. I know the touring frame is better for long distance and my wife comes for short rides once in a while. Looks like she my be more comfortable on the Heritage. BTW I hated the ride on the Deuce.

heres my thought... stay with what you have until you find out what the indians are like and save the xtra bucks, i dont see any reason to switch your bikes every 2-3 yrs unless you have the money to burn, and if thats the case, keep your curent ride and start a collection

imho, you asked for opinions thats my .02 worth

I think the paragraph above answers your own question....

I came from a Fat Boy, and while the ride was great, the Touring ride is spectacular.

I agree with staying with what you have...however, the Heritage is a SWEET bike. Plan on $1500 for the Shotgun Shock, we did it on ours and it rides better than our Ultra Classic solo and two up. Best money we ever spent for comfort!

I ride pretty much like you described, and the Heritage fits the bill. I think you wouldn't be disappointed. Two things however: only one disc on front brake so fast braking requires front and rear be applied. And the boards drag if you lean it too much. Other than that I love it. That anniversary edition is one sweet looking bike too.

If yours is paid for I will trade you mine and you can ride mine till you decide on an indian lol

Like others have said, I would just wait instead of trading in now and then again in a year or so.

I had to stop from 70 mph saturday at a light that just turned yellow that had a camera on it. The ABS kicked in and it felt like I was never going to slow down. I know the brakes on Harleys are not the best. The Triumphs and Ducati's I have owned with out ABS would have stopped much faster.

I have a Softail and we've started doing long rides. And we ride like you and we love it. Yo could rent a Softail and go for a long ride and see how you and your wife likes it. It'll save you some money.

If you hated riding on the Deuce, why would you think a Heritage would be better? They're both Softails, and neither of them will ride as well as a Touring bike.
