Alright the Ape Install is done, I tried starting the bike and it stareted for a secong or two and died, now it just turns over. Im getting spark. It looks like im not getting very much fuel into the carb. Last night I thought I might have gotten the throttle and idle cables mixed up at the grip but Im not sure which one goes where, that could be my problem. Also one time I turned the key and my alarm started to go off. Not sure why that is. My last problem is that my clutch cable doesnt seem to be engaging. WTF! LOL. Im getting annoyed. So I guess my install isnt complete.Any insight?
If your throttle cables are correct, your return cable(when you let up on the throttle)should be farthest from you,as to where the cable to open up the carb is closet to you.
Sounds like you might need to adjust your clutch cable a bit.You should have play of about 1/8 inch play from the clutch cable housing.
Throttle & Idle cables will only install into the switch housings one way...
Throttle cable goes into the 'forward' side of the housing, and the 'front' of the carb ramp...that may help.
As far as the alarm - check to make sure that it is decativated (sounds simple - but many people have spent many hours looking for a BIG problem, when the answer was something silly).
Also, in your troubleshooting...you mentioned 'spark'.
- Keep focused on what you have done - just bars & cables. If the bike was operating normally before you began, than odds are the problem is isolated to a very small area...Be careful not to 'stray' intomore work.
I would be checking the idle/throttle cables. First to make sure they are hooked-up properly.Look at the pulley that the cables are connected to near thecarb - reach-up and twist the throttl, and the pulley should spin 'clockwise' (from the front of the bike). If that is correct. Check your slack on the cable adjusters....it your idle cable is too tight, it will cut fuel.
