Buy a Warranty on a '03 Fat Boy?
I'm looking at a 9,000 mile dead-mint Fat Boy at the dealer. I've purchased warranties in the past on used bikes.
How about the rest of you? It would be $1400 for two years and that includes tires. Seems like a lot of $$ but having to get a bike repaired isn't cheap either.
Any thoughts opinions etc always appreciated.

03 was still a simple machine without primary issues. Still had the forged crank ( though not the Timken Lefty bearing - first year without.)
Though I wouldn't touch a new bike without one nowadays, I wouldn't worry about an '03.
(Besides, I think the warranty only is available if the bike is less than 10 years old.)

Warranties don't cover wear items, i.e. cam chain tensioners, but with those low miles I wouldn't worry too much about those. An EFI bike maybe.

I bought a 02 Heritage 3 years ago and was offered a similar warranty. I turned it down. I havent had any problems that a warranty would have covered. I suggest putting the money in the bank and riding the bike.

Only reason I would think about it is that it includes tires. If you put 30-40,000 on it in two years, you'll get some of it back for the cost of tires. But is a new tire up to the dealer?
Bah, nevermind, don't do it.

I negotiated mine, they ended up cutting the price of warranty to hardly nothing and cutting my interest rate down to nothing. I already had an approved Loan from my credit union at 1.9 percent. So Harley took their offer down to 1.9 and the warranty only cost me 5 bucks a month with free tires for the 3 years and 3 top of the shelf tune up and oil changes a year. And damn near everything is covered except the belt, I dunno why that's not but they said not to hot dog and stretch my belt.

every bike is different. you could have two bikes exactly the same, one of them could be trouble free for as long you own it and the other one could have all kinds of problems. You never know. In mo opinion, a warranty is one of those things I would rather have and not need than need and not have
