Default Delaware Memorial Bridge

Being a "novice" and crossing the bridge with my 4x4 the winds sometimes are very high. In April I am heading up to South Jersey with my 07 UC, what lane would you recommend using on the North & South Side? Or would you continue into Phila and cross one of the smaller bridges. Can't recall if all lanes are concrete or corrugated steel.

Thanks

I cross that bridge all the time. I find the lane with the fastest moving traffic and use it. High winds are somtimes a factor but I just plug on ahead... maybe I'm use to it.

If I remember right, most of the time the speed limit on the bridge is about 35 or 45. Unless there is a strong storm coming in, you shouldn't have much trouble crossing it on your UC. I don't recall a grating surface on the bridge and the web sight about the bridge doesn't mention anything about grating.

If you don't have a fatboy with a solid front wheel, you should barely feel the wind. I always found that the solid wheel caught the wind and made the bike sway.

I think some of that bridge is steel grate. if you're running a 21" up front you might want to watch it.. If you're only doing 35 the wind shouldn't be a problem...

I use ezpass and it's mounted on the underside of the fairing (above the radio). I don't recall any grating on the DelMem andI've NEVER went 35 mph on this bridge. More like 55-75. Then again, I cross the Walt Whitman everyday at 55-75 too... [&:]Life's too short to go so slow!

There is no grating on the bridge and crossing it, even with a Fatboy is no big deal. In heavy wind all bikes get moved around. There are brackets for your easy pass that mount to your mirror. No toll going into Jersey, only coming back.

Crossed it many times last summer, you'll be fine.

I don't like big bridges even in a car.
