I had a Harbor Freight jack for years and it worked well. Then I bought a Sears yellow jack when the pump on the HF jack failed. The yellow jack was much too unstable. So a month ago I sprung for the JS jack. I love it. It's rock-solid and easy to maneuver. Like most everything in life, you get what you pay for.
Check craigslist you might some deals. Picked up a J &S lift for $200. Be patient if you can, you may even find a table lift for a good price.
Bingo! Ditto! Bingo. got my first J$S for $200 on Craigs. Sold it with my first Harley for $300!
Got my SECOND for $250 off of craigs. They are EVERYTHING they claim to be.
Wife had a good laugh when she came out in the garage the other night and caught me sitting on the Harley, on the J&S, watching TV...........and makng "engine" sounds........
Limited options here of bike jacks and they are all Chinese rubbish, so I made my own, similar to the J&S jack, works brilliantly...life is so much easier.
The swivel table on my Pitbull is great. I can turn the bike to keep the side I'm working on in the best lighting. Can also turn bike around and drive out of garage.
Love my Pitbull. I can stand to work on my bike, and that's a big deal, especially as I get older, and my arthritis gets worse. It lifts six or seven inches higher than the J&S jack, or I would have saved a couple of bucks and got the J&S.
I use the Sears yellow jack. Yes, it's a little unstable depending on the bike. But, I only use it to get the tires off the ground on the rare occasion I actually clean the thing. It's only used to rotate the tires. For maintenance of any kind, the bikes go on the table.
