I got my Pitbull airlift off Craigslist for 200 bucks. Money well spent.

Its all what U want..
Not saying mine is great, but it worked for me.. Bought the old HF model 7yrs ago and I've used it every winter to store my bike off the floor.

Also use it for cleaning and oil changes..
I've also rolled it all over the garage, turned the bike around and pushed it to the front of the garage for washing.

never once has it even closely or seemed unstable and I've never used tie-downs..
Its all in knowing the balance point..

There are Lot and Lots of better ones. but it still works for me...

For that kind of money you can get a table. My last three bikes were built on the Sears jack modified so I could bolt the frame to the jack. Just had to be aware of keeping bike balanced front to back. Have owned a Handy lift table now for near 10 yrs also modified to work with all lawn and garden equipment as well as V8 bikes. The only was to go.

The J&S jack was the only one that fit under my softail deluxe without standing it up! The lifting beams are wider and will also fit the dyna's. Not like the pitbull standard. Bought one on craigslist in NC were my son lives for $175. worth every penny!

This one looks pretty stable in the video but a its on the high end of the money part.

Sure a guy can get one from harbor freight or another dollar tool store but Id never recommend jacking an 800+lb bike on one personally, especially if you need to move it while its on the jack.

Any of you guys that have a bike jack or have used one please post a link to where we can get more information on it and post what you did and didn't like about it. Tell us what to look for and what to avoid.

Thanks

J&S Jacks, without a doubt. I had a couple of others over the years, but note that I said I've had a couple of others.

If I'd bought the J&S the first time, it would still be in service and I'd have saved money over the long haul. You just can't go wrong with quality, American made products that are designed specifically for your application.

Just my $.02

I bought the J&S, had the bike up on it for the first time today. As advertised, the higher you lift, the more stable the platform and the frame is very sturdy. I haven't tried the oil pan so I can't say whether the jack itself or the pan interfere with access to any of the drains, I'm going to assume not or others would have reported on it.

What don't I like? The bottle jack seems low quality, the lever arm for the foot pedal is not secured well, making what is otherwise a substantial piece of steel feel flimsy.. Its secured by a spring and a single hexhead screw in a channel which was slotted improperly on mine so it does not ride parallel to the floor. Combining that with lateral play in the cheap bottle jack mechanism and every 12-14 pumps the pump arm comes loose and must be reinstalled. Can I redrill it and install a self tapping screw? Yes I'll probably do so tomorrow but should I have to on a $500 jack? I don't think so. But once I fix that I expect the platform will last the life of the bike, it will just be a matter of how often the bottle jack needs replacing. I can live with that.

Call them, they'll make it right. My jack started seeping just a bit after about a year. I emailed them about it and in just a couple days a new bottle jack was at my door.

The oil pan is great and funnels the oil into your catch pan nicely. It wipes off nice and easy too. All plugs are totally accessible with the oil pan in place.

Default +1 for the J&S

I don't think there's anything safer or more stable than the J&S. When I'm jacking my $25K bike up in the air, I want it to be secure. Dropping a bike is embarrassing and expensive.

I think I will do that, I still reccommend the jack, once up its like a rock. I took a couple of photos of the pedal, going to send an e mail to them explaining the issue.
