Problems with a SERT ***Update***
Has anyone had a problem getting the computer to read the tuner? I have now tried two computers and no luck. the cables only connect one way, there all on, tried all the ports. Now just an FYI, the first computer I tried was my laptop, it does not have a 9 pin serial port, so I bought an adapter to USB. tried that, no luck. So I took out my desk top, and put it in the garage and hooked up the SERT.....Same thing! It cannot read the SERT. the Ignition switch is set to ignition and the kill switch is set to run.....wait the 10 sec.....nothing, no connection to the SERT. Has anyone gotten a bad tuner? What is the dealer going to do when I try to exchange it? Is there anything I am missing? Any help will be appreciated.

When you go to send a map to the SERT there is a check connection button. If its working you should be able to click that button in the software program and it will fill in all the numbers like your VIN. Also make sure its on the right COM port in the SERT software.

I have tried all the com ports that are available, and then tried the get ecm data, without any luck, it just keeps saying that it can't read it, check the connections, and the com ports. I have triple checked all of the connections, and tried all the com ports several times on both computers. Making sure that the ignition is on, and the kill switch is in the run position. I am dumb founded..I am not that bad with a computer, and not too bad mechanically. Just getting a little frustrated tonight. I have been working on the bike all weekend, getting ready for my new wheels that are due in tomorrow, and its supposed to be 68 degrees tomorrow! I need a ride bad! I am taking a half day tomorrow so that I can get the wheels on and take her or a ride. I was hoping to try out the new program and A/C [:@]

Try reinstalling the SERT program on your computer.........maybeitgot/became corrupt or something. If you are running a modified map, then burn that map to a CD and reinstall the SERT and load the burned map back into the program.
Are you connecting the SERT to the ECM cable under the right side cover? I'm not being a smart azz, just trying to troubleshoot with you.

Yep, right side, rubber plug in the connector that you have to remove. Three pins in the connector on the bike. I have removed and reinstalled the program on the computer twice each. Stock map, just trying to get close. Its the first time setting up the SERT. So its blank, no VIN number on it. The part number on the SERT is 32107-01F, and I am using it on a 2007 Street Glide. I am about to get ready to go back out to the garage and put the stock A/C back on so that I can at least ride tomorrow[:@]

Since you are using the USB port, are you sure your USB port is recognized within windows? Does it need enabling in the bios? Are you using 2.0USB or 1.1USB? make sure there is nothing wrong with the USB setup if you are computer adept.
