OP: The advice you're getting about finding the one that fits you is the advice you should follow in the end. Your question about the 1200 Custom is one I can comment on from experience. I owned an '03 1200 XLC as my first Harley. Within weeks, I realized it was smaller than what I wanted and needed. I do lots of highway riding and that bike seemed comfortable at 60, but stressed above that. Back roads were fine, but the slab was stressful for bike and rider! Good luck in your decision.

Ride safe.

I would recommend a Fatboy Lo, or a Deluxe. They both sit very low.

Also check into having the motorcycle of choice lowered. The dealer will have options for that.

My son asked what would I buy between the 1200 Custom or Super Glide Custom if the cost was identical. That's a no brainer the Super Glide, I guess that kind of answered my own question. But the Street Bob looks nice too. The good lady won't get on the back so the 2nd seat isn't needed. The other option is there is a company in Australia that do a fly, buy and tour deal. They claim to be able to fly you to the US, pick up your new bike and tour for a week. They then crate up and ship back home for you for about the same cost of buying in Australia. I'm waiting on more details.

The bikes I have sat on are low enough, it's just BMs, my other choice are not.

That would be an awesome opportunity. Sure wish I could make that work in reverse - a week in Australia would suit me JUST FINE.
