Cancel "Go to" command on GPS?

Cancel "Go to" command on GPS?
With only a couple hundred miles on my SGS, I thought I'd try out the GPS. I set a destination and headed out but once I determined it was doing OK, I attempted to cancel it. Exhausted every menu I could think of and even broke down and read the manual. I still spent the rest of the day riding around with the GPS trying to get me back to the original destination. Turning it off didn't help either. It still wants me to go there this morning. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

When you are on the gps map screen in the lower right corner, you will see three small horizontal lines. Looks like a short stack of pancakes. This is an on-screen menu icon. Touch it with your finger and it will take you to a menu screen, the first one on the top is the 'stop' command.
