Traded my 04 Wide Glide for a new Road King last year. To be honest there are times wish I had that bike back. Felt like the Wide Glide fit my long legs better.
Any thoughts on buying a fossil -- an '05 88"/5-speed Wideglide with 9K on the clocks, clean and with a ton of chrome, good pipes and at least a stage1. They want maybe $9.5K out the door, new tires, very, very sano silver color. Already have the SG, but sometimes I'd like a simpler, smaller bike for around town and commuting to work. Would an 88"/five speed be a deal breaker for you at that price? Would you want at least a 96/6?
Add a Andrews 26G gear driven cam and you won't be worrying about it being "just an 88 anymore.
And ontop of that, HEY, an '05 isn't a fossil :-(
