Just a few short years ago, that wasa relatively sparse area withresidences anda few tiny office strips and small shops. Now some HUGE car dealerships and other large commercial ventures are the norm. This neighborhood is probably less than a mile off of I75.
I have some family that have been trying to sell their home in Lex. Oaks for a year now. Sadly, this isn't some "quaint" neighborhood area anymore. Lex. Oaks itself is nice, but SR 54 is a madhouse in that area. The noise of motorcycles isn't going to bother anyone, it's already a high traffic area. They probably fought the car dealership because they change the overall look of the area from residential to big-time commercial. These car dealerships areENORMOUS and they are right across the street from Lex. Oaks.
I suspect they may feel like they've already lost the fight, a Harley dealership certainly won't make it any worse. Had the car dealerships not been built, Ibet they'd be fighting it a bit harder.
I'm a little concerned with rider safety in that area, but they are doing construction on the roads. Hopefully the road work will improve things and hopefully it will be done before the dealership opens. The same group owns dealerships in New Port Richey, Tampa and Brandon. They say this will be their biggest dealership yet.
