I never locked my helmet until I got the FF Shoei. I use a cable lock from the local ski shop. It goes thru the faceport and around the frame. On those days were it's a bit too cool to ride without a leather jacket but too warm to walk around carrying it I put the cable lock thru the sleeve as well. Fold the jacket up and leave it under the bike. The cable is long enough to secure both the helmet and the jacket.
A few years ago I came out of a restaurant with a buddy to find his helmet was missing. He had left it on his seat. I couldn't believe he rode over 100 miles home with out getting stopped.
people will steal anything they can. We had some old truck batteries stolen off our work property. jokes on them those things were garbage. If i wore a helmet i would secure it to the bike with a lock.

Jokes on you bro, lead recycles! They get so manic around Atlanta, you'll see empty apartments where they literally pulled the wire out of the wall, leaving rips in the sheetrock...maybe $20 for the wire and $10,000 worth of damage to the owner.

Whats a battery worth, a few bucks, I'd guess., that's why I said they steal anything... We had an ex employee that got busted going around to new construction and was stealing the copper piping. Some construction guys caught him ,beat the crap out of him then had him arrested. Come to think of it, maybe he stole those batteries.

Car batteries are almost 14 bucks for a core, A truck or large equipment battery probably close to 30 bucks!!

that's the going rate for a battery core? I had no idea..I haven't had to buy any kinda battery in atleast 15yrs. I do think my Tahoe battery is starting to show its age though.
I just bought a battery for a toy hauler I'm building and they said "bring me any old car battery and you'll get $13.80 back".. So, I did and they did!!
Even worse than that; in the UK there has apparently been an increase in people stealing the visors off helmets when they are locked up. Mine's a Schuberth S2 and the visors aren't cheap, so until I get something like a PacSafe helmet bag to secure it to the bike, the helmet's coming with me.

What do you think about the S2? It is available, though hard to find in the US and not cheap by any measure. I know buffeting and noise are subjective but I would love to hear your opinions.

The previous helmet I bought was in 2001, so technology has presumably moved on a lot since then. But I find it very luxurious and comfortable. But I suspect that I would find the same from other helmets if they fitted me. But only the Schuberth did. The fit is the most important thing IMO so I can't tell you if it's going to be a good helmet for you. I don't notice too much buffeting, and it is designed for an upright, touring posture so that makes sense. And that's with a fatboy, no screen. Haven't yet tried my new Memphis shades fairing so can't tell you how that works with it.
