That's what I have on mine. Only pain is when you have 2 to lock down. You can solve that issue. Think I got it at Dennis Kirk looks like a d-clip with a number lock on it.
My motorcop buds tell me it's all just a matter of being harder to hit than the guy next to you, so even a cheap couple-dollar lock like this makes the guy without one the easier mark: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Digit-Comp...item20dc35eb05
I know of a guy who leaves his leathers on the bike with just a thin bicycle cable thru the sleeve and under the tank. It doesn't even have a lock on it; you'd just automatically assume there is one.
Anyone low enough to steal helmet wouldn't think twice about cutting the strap, even though it would pretty much make the helmet worthless. I hang mine on the bar by the strap and have never had one stolen.
Worse yet are the D-Bags that put filth in the helmet and leave it with the bike... I saw a woman ranting on her cell phone while standing next to a bike one day last summer and she took a soda and pored it into a helmet hanging off a set of bars. It was clear she knew the poor slob, but vandals will screw with anyone. BTW, we are a nanny state, so that guy either rode with a wet head, or risked a ticket or stole someone else s.
I've had a set of sunglasses stolen from my bike.. hanging from the handlebars, a Helmet, the **** pot ones they have here in the americas, a half helmet (70's) open face style, Full face helmet and I had my tool bag stolen. they cut the straps
15 minutes with some nylon thread and you can sew a strap back together. It ain't the bikers so much to sweat, I personally think it's the teens with no brains (think repercussions), and the crotch rocketer who knows the value of a lid and doesn't like your cruiser.
I keep thinking about the ones we PASS when we stop for a bit...we do get some nasty looks, but mostly from the Harley crowd who can't friggin' RIDE.
