I bought one after seeing a motorcycle across the intersection that had this mod. He stood out from the traffic and was very visible. So, I disagree scasey. I know looking at it in the garage, up close, could give you the opinion that it could be hard to see. But, take it outside and walk away from the bike and, it will grab your attention.

One of the first mods done to my Fatboy Lo.

I run a stock headlight w/a 80/100 watt osram bulb w/a kisan modulator.
$140 add on to the stock headlight.

There's nothing to it - they are completely plug 'n play.

That being said... With Trucklites you just unscrew two or three screws and pull the plug off the back of the stock light. Reverse the process to install the new one. I put a Daymaker in mine, which is a physically larger unit than the Trucklite. For that, you remove all the mounting hardware for the stock light (about 6 screws ). The Daymaker then occupies the entire space where all that stuff used to go.

Assuming the unit you get isn't a dud right out the box, it's reasonable to expect they will last the life of the bike.

Either one is hilariously easy to install - just remember that you have to carefully aim the light afterward. The instructions in the kit on how to do this are clear and simple. It involves drawing a chalk line on a wall and a couple of turns on a screwdriver.

IMO, HD LED headlights give a focused on-the-road light pattern while Trucklites LED is more scattered pattern, so oncoming vehicles see Trucklites more. As for actually seeing ghe road and night riding, I think the HD is better (but more expensive). Still, LED headlights are the best $ you can spend on the bike.

As long as it(modulator) gets me seen I really don't care if anyone likes it or not. I mostly ride alone, and if I ride with others I can easily turn it off.

I want to be seen and not a statistic.

Daymakers and Trucklites are good for the night, but my understanding is that they both mimic the sunlight too much and for visibility are so-so in the day.

I don't ride at night much anymore so really don't care so much about that scene.

Modulators are probably ok in South Dakota. But here in crime and gang infested Ca, flashing headlights could get you capped out of road rage.

I think modular headlights are illegal in Florida. understandably I think too because I could see how it would distract oncoming drivers. Plus, seeing how it's human nature to go where you look, I wouldn't want oncoming traffic to be so focused looking at the blinking lights coming. People might inadvertently cross over the yellow line and into my lane.

Can't anything get you capped in CA?

Lane splitting?
Looking at someone the wrong way, trying to be friendly to someone or acknowledging them?
