Actually, while Harley was on strike they shut their email down. I was waiting for my bike (which should be here in the next few days), and I wrote the company a snail mail letter.

In a nutshell someone called me back from Milwaukee. I talked to them on the phone for about 25 minutes, r/t what the plan would be if the strike went long term.

The answer was, Other than new color changes the 08's won't be any different than the 07's. They would end up just getting me an 08' at the same price.

So I don't see any engine changes either.

if they go to a bigger motor it's probably because the epa stricter standards.so instead of choking down the 96" like they did in 2006 to the 88" running way too lean and way too f/n hot. it looks like the epa measurement go by the size of the motor and maybe the moco has a little bit more room under the standards. IMO

A103 for 2008? It won't happen guys, at least not in the next 4 yrs. Plus, every police bike I sold last year was an 88. But it is true that all the 2007 Police bikes are 103's

I'm with you on a 7 gal tank. A 5 gal tank on a 103" wouldn't give you as much range.

I heard the 08's are noisy in 5th gear......... Seriously though, If they go to 103" they need to go to 7 gallon gas tanks on the dressers.5 gallons don't get it.

I'm not sure where everyonehas been but the 07, 96 in. engine has the same stroke as the 06 screaming eagle 103 in engine. If you put the big bore kit on the 96 in. engine it that brought the 88 in. engine up to 95 in you end up with you end up with a 103 in. engine. The 07 Screaming Eagle is 110 in but if you want to convert a 96 in engine to the 110 you also need to bore out the cases to accept jugs that are even bigger than the standard big bore kit.

How do you go to a 7 gal tank and not end up with the "Boss Hoss" fat lady look? The looks matter to me, I guess....

The bigger they go, the more they have to tune the smog out! So, at some point a PC III or SERT will become mandatory for any serious rider.

If they widened the tank about an inch on each side, and brought it up to about the heighth of the current gas cap / console, I think it would look fine. That should be about the 7 gallon range. I want the bigger tank on my 96". I wanted it on the 88" before that. I get about 35 mpg most of the time. I stop for fuel, not because I got to pee. With 2 more gallons, I think the fuel capacity and my bladder would balance out nicely.

I agree with ChiefGator. The 96 is here to stay, and I would even venture to say it will be here for the next decade. With harley, its all about giving the rider options. If you have a 96 and say "i want the 103"the HD boys are gonna say "well $ure we can $$$upgrade $$$ you to $$$ the 103, but you are gonna have to pony up". With the 96ers you are just a bolt on away to a 103.

The screaming eagle big bore kits and any of their high performance parts are just way to big of a reveunue streamto just offer the 103's stock. Its all about the bottom line.

And also, they started designing the 96 in 02, so why the hell would they invest that much R & D to just havit it out a year? I dont know, if you do that math this seem to be all rumor.
