I'm sure HD took into consideration the trades that would be made in 07 for newer bikes. Think business... Do you want to flood the market with your product? No, that would lower overall value. For HD to produce a bigger engine in 08 would lower the value of 07 and previous models and cause another rush to trade in. Also, HD is not known for wizz-bang changes every year. People wonder what the top execs get paid for? For considering supply, demand, value, income, revenue, expense, labor, the economy, regulations, and a gazillion other things that ultimately affect the company's rating and stability.

I also heard that in 08, Willie G is going to sign every paint job with a green Magic Marker!

I see a Revolution drivenBagger in the future tho. I think there would be a big market for them.

if they go to a bigger motor it's probably because the epa stricter standards.so instead of choking down the 96" like they did in 2006 to the 88" running way too lean and way too f/n hot. it looks like the epa measurement go by the size of the motor and maybe the moco has a little bit more room under the standards. IMO
What they do will be critical in CA as new EPA standards (stricter) go into effect for '08. I can't see how they can make the 96" run much leaner than they do now.

HD didn't have to "re-tool" much of anything to bring the motors up from 88" to 96". Wouldn't be a big streach to something bigger. But the bigger you go, the more problems will come up..

I heard the 08's are noisy in 5th gear......... Seriously though, If they go to 103" they need to go to 7 gallon gas tanks on the dressers.5 gallons don't get it.
Some of us already have 103" dressers (06 SE Ultra), get between 150 and 175 before the fuel light comes on. Plenty if riding two up, could use another gallon or more when on my own. Having said that this is about the same as I got with my 88" Ultra.

I must admit I would rather have the 7 gallon tank than the 103. My 96 gets me there fast enough I just have to stop to much for fuel.

I agree!

Wife and I went exploring on Monday. Found out that several towns shown on the map of Southern Calif did not exist as "towns." Long story short --- when we finally made it to a gas station, my '06 Ultra took 5.1 gallons, her '00 FLHT took 4.9 gallons. That was too close for comfort.

I definetly see the '08 as being 103" stock on all big twins, and some added emission equipment. Probably charcoal canisters at the very least. Also its not such a radical change as everyone is suggesting just a new set of jugs and pistons. My bet is '07s were 96" to deplete the old stock of the 88 jugs & pistons.
