At cruising speeds of about 2500 to 3500 my bike seems to have fairly loud, at least very audible to me,engine or power train rattle or clicking(not pinging). The warmer the bike gets the more pronounced the sound becomes. The noise seems to be in most gears, at least 2nd through 5th. Is anyone else experiencing this with their '07?
It doesn't seem to be the tranny noise that others were saying about.
Sounds like normal valve train noise on a motorcycle.
Are you new to riding or have you had other bikes? If you're new then they seem a little noisy compared to say a car because the engine is right there 2 feet away from you....plus HD is still using pushrod technology so even louder still compared to OHC motorcycles.
It doesn't sound like anything to worry about but if you are nervous that's what your warranty is for on a new bike....go ask the dealer.
As a rule, water cooled engines are quieter than air cooled. The tolerances in water cooled enginesare closer because of the more controlled temperatures range. In air cooled engines there is a broader range of operating temperatures and thus a little more "slop" in the fit of parts to allow for moreexpansion.
Sounds like normal valve train noise. After you get the bike broke in, try switching to a synthetic oil like amsoil or mobil1 v-twin. That may help quieten it down a bit.
Then, if it still bothers you, ditch the windshield and get some loud slipons.
