Whether there is a clear coat or not, I'm sure you don't want to remove it to put on pinstripes. Just used windex on mine to clean area. My emblem has been on about 2 years now and no probs.
Just did pin striping on my bike , although it's not a denim finish it is a stock HD paint , we used mineral spirits to clean surface it does not touch stock paint , just cleans it !
Had a 2010 Fatboy Lo that was Denim Black. Had a couple of different pin stripping's done to it. As far as I know the painter used the same cleaner on my bike as hie did all the other bikes he was working on. The pinstripes always looked great.
