I would suggest you purchase a HD Manual. Good Luck.

Not yet.
Thanks for asking. It is sitting right where I left off. I have the manual. I've got to pick up a few things, study quite a bit more (obviously), and finish two other honey-do projects that have 'popped up' so I can actually focus and take my time.
Like I said, lesson learned. I'm pretty sure that I know what my biggest mistakes were. But I'm still a little perplexed. Mostly because I was trying to dive in to playing with my new toy with too much other stuff going on and not enough information.
I'll get it.
The answer is usually right in front of you.
Thanks again.

Yep, its best to step back sometimes. Just go by the manual and you should be fine, I dont mess with clutches and trannies ,anything else I will. I just had my bike out for the first time this year yesterday and noticed that I cant get the bike to start in gear with the clutch pulled in, Probably just needs to be adjusted but since its new I will get the dealer to do it when I have it in for its first service.

When adjusting clutches, make sure there are not oversize grips, levers, lever covers, anything that reduces the distance from lever to handlebar can/will cause issues.

You know, the 1.625 diameter big ISO grips probably were the only thing the needed changed in the first place. I was fixing something that didn't need fixed, just like you said. I do have new, much smaller grips. I will put them on before any more adjusting and as soon as I'm done reading the shop manual, and when I have time to do it properly.
Thank for the tip

That's exactly what I was thinking. Sounds like he may have not done the first step in the procedure.

I did loosen the adjuster. The main problem was that I was mistaking the tension from the clutch for the 'very first bit of tension' that was described everywhere I was looking. I didn't have a manual yet either.
But, having broken many bolts and stopping many a thread from just carelessness in the past, I was actually being too careful. After getting the manual, doing more research and trying again, I realized that I was just moving the clutch and not seated. I've already 'fixed' that but it's not buttoned up.
My issue now is the throw out rod with the oil slinger and the throw out bearing. It won't go in to the transmission and allow me to put the cover on. The new cable's adjuster is released and the ramp mechanism moves freely...
Because it's sitting on ground waiting for me to figure out what I'm missing with the throw out bearing.
Again, it's all on hold until I can get a few hours if quiet to work with it.
For now, I'm carrying the manual around like a bible.
