Here is something that should help you not misplace your keys http://shop.captain-itch.com/Key-Bel...-Belt-Loop.htm and here is another one that we make a little fancier http://shop.captain-itch.com/Key-Flap-Key-Flap.htm

I accidently locked the door of my Jeep Rubicon with the key in the ignition and running. That won't ever happen again. Because you can't lock a Jeep hood I have a key stashed in the engine bay so I can always get in if that crap ever happened again.

With the ease of stealing a bike I just don't bother to lock them. When away from home I'm usually camping right next to it at night so jacking it will be a problem for whoever is trying it.

Mine didn't come with a second fob when i bought it from a non-HD dealer. Thought about getting another one but just another thing to lose. I set up the security code with the blinkers. That'll get me going again to the nearest dealer if the fob gets lost.

When my wife and I travel, she carries a spare key for my bike and I carry a spare key for hers. One time this came in handy. After locking the bikes up for the night, I dropped the keys for my bike and proceeded to stomp on the fob destroying it. I used the spare she was carrying to turn off the security system. (It would not have been a disaster, I could have used the turn signal system to disarm the thing, but it was convenient.) dropping a key down a sewer could be a disaster and disaster is easily avoided by having a spare key when you are a thousand miles from home.

I never have but I do carry a spare battery. I'm worried that when I need it, it'll be dead!

Why not just put it on the key ring? that's what I do.

yep, put the key on the keyring with the fob. not really hard to keep up with, if you don't have the fob, you aren't going anywhere. much like if you forget your key for the ignition.....

I never carry an extra, I figure I can use the blinker system if I were to loose it.

A most definite yes. As I see it, if I am on a trip and I loose my key, what good does it do if my spare key is at home. Actually, I always take my spare key no matter how short or long my trip is. I lock up my bike no matter where I go, hard to unlock it if I loose my key and don't have my spare.
