I always carry a fold-up knife. Currently I carry a Smith/Wesson MP knife and/or a SOG knife. Of course, I also carry a variety of firearms as well.

Saw a guy the other day with a fixed blade attached to his bike. Honestly, I wouldn't want the attention.

If I need a folder it's my Microtech SOCOM Elite Double Action (1998 vintage).

If I need a fixed blade I can take my Chris Reeve Pacific or a Randall Model 18 5".

Benchmade mini griptilian here. Know your local laws if you don't want to be hassled. A Kabar 5" blade would be illegal to carry where I'm at.

Got one of these free a while back and started carrying it. You get a different attitude from a cop with one of these vs. a knife. And you can use the blade without unfolding the tool.

I carry an American made Benchmade thumb-assist easy-opener with a serrated blade. I use it for coring apples, peeling oranges, or whatever miscellaneous task that pops up requiring a sharp knife.

A Gerber multi-tool knife and (2) multi-blade Swiss Army knives are always in the saddlebag if I ever I need 'em, too.

But for self defense, I carry other tools; and both are stamped .357...
