I have a denim and a leather vest. I wear either one less than half the time I ride. I'm basically a bar hopper so most of my trips are around town or to the neighboring city. But I do have them and yes they have patches on them. When I do decide to wear, I don't worry about what others think. It does have utility, I use the pockets.
Never had a vest but have considered it to keep my t shirt off my neck in strong winds when it's too hot to wear a jacket. Was riding in the upper 80's yesterday and it felt great in a t shirt. Hard to believe I could wear a mesh jacket and keep cool on summer days near 100. Some might argue they look just as gay if that's how you see things. Would it have to look like this?
These kinds of threads are funny...Who gives a **** what someone else wears?
I've worn a vest since the early 70's and I feel funny if I ride without one.
If you don't wear one, I don't care.
Some of you guys need to go outside and mingle with real people a little more often.
There was some idiot in one of these threads a while back that said He didn't "understand the vest over the jacket" and kept asking people to "explain" it to him.
I mean....Seriously???
The whole question of what you wear on you bike is pretty damned stupid.

I tried going without one time, ended up chaffed and waiting for bail money. Seems you have to wear something under your chaps around here.
Yea, it seems we have similar rules over here in Missouri. I mean,we even have show-me in the state nickname but did they care?...nooo!

I have a feeling people like that wouldn't get it even if it was explained to them.
