Baggers use to come with a lock on the fuel door ... A pain in the a$$ to deal with ... I always removed mine. Never had a problem ... Now, about where to put the gas cap .. Oh boy??

Mine has a fuel door, but I wouldn't expect any problems. I always leave my saddle bags unlocked and never had anything go missing. The lids themselves have expensive 3way speakers in them.
The only "bad experience" I've had was when we were in Shreveport LA and I had to borrow a guys pliers to get it off. Why it was stuck on and I couldn't turn it, I don't know. It hasn't happened since.
I'll trade you my locked 2011 locked one for your push button one. It's a PITA and I'm about as worried about someone stealing or sabotaging my gas as I am about the doomsday asteroid.
The push button hatch offers no security, and the locking one offers hardly any security. A good lever will make short work out of either of those covers. If someone wants my gasoline that bad they can have it. I'd rather they not hack away with a pry bar or tire iron. My ricer had a locking cap, but it was the cap itself, not the hatch that had the lock. Seemed a tiny bit more secure.
I assume you mean with theft, etc? My SG has a lock and I lock it, but never really thought about it being a security issue. Most of my riding buddies' caps don't lock and I've never heard of any problems. Although, none of us live in the bad part of town and all but a few keep our bikes in garages.
That being said, I'm not sure why you'd worry. Canucks are very gentle, compassionate, & honest people!
