Screamin Eagle air cleaner question
Hey guys, quick question.
I put a Cycle Shack slip on exhaust and my Dyna runs fine with it. I called my local dealership today to ask about a Screamin Eagle air cleaner and they told me I'd have to buy a 400 dollar tuner with it and a dyno tune. That's crazy. Is there any way to get around spending this money just for the looks of an air cleaner or do I have to cough up the dough?
I only want it for looks. I don't feel any desire to get more power from my 103.
Thanks,
Tom

Because it's a dealership?
I've read here that with slip ons, the engine doesn't need to be tuned. And adding a AC, shouldn't...or at least mine didn't when they installed mine. I had mine for a week, before I had the pipes put on, then it needed to be tuned.

If you change your exhaust and add a high-flow air intake, you need to adjust the electronic instructions your ECM is using. It doesn't mean you need to tune it with the help of a dynamometer, but you do need to tune to account for the hardware changes if you want the bike to run at optimal or close to optimal level.

be careful
I just had a bad experience with a tuner and I'm out $933 after repairs.
In the end I added the $200 stage 1 tuning to my SE slip-ons and SE intake... Runs great ... should have just done that in the first place

Look into the Xieds. Puts a little more fuel in across the board. Runs cooler w better performance. If you are only doing stage 1 (pipes and air cleaner) you can save yourself some money with these. You can also find them in the HD marketplace on this forum.
Good luck and let us know what you went with and how it worked.

Remember your stock air fuel ratio is somewhere in the neighborhood of 14.7 - you want to get that in the high 13's in all cases. Tuner with a good map will do that for you. Adding the pipes and SE intake is going to make you even leaner (more air). Do your engine a favor and reduce that engine temp by a little richer map...your ***** wont sweat as much either.
