Spent a little more money online. Although this time I did a little more research before pulling the trigger. Hopefully everything fits and I can make my deadline and have a working bike for under a grand.
Ok. Here is where I need a little support from the audience. I need to find someone with a stock shovelhead carb. There is a tiny little part off of it I need. I need the spring that resets the choke lever. It is probably a 5 cent piece that I cannot seem to find. If you have one or have a lead on one, it would be greatly appreciated. Even if you have the whole carb... I don't really feel like dropping $600 on a new s&s carb right now. I am willing to pay top dollar menu for your help.
So far:
tank needs to be cleaned of all rust
Throttle cables need to be replaced
Choke cable and spring need to be replaced
Seat is shot
Speedo cable is garbage
Air filter was disgusting
Carb rebuild
Plugs/wire/coil/battery
All fluids need to be changed
Brake pads
Fuel lines
Ignition wires are broke
Brake light wires are broke
New bulbs
So, bringing everyone back up to speed. I still have not received the stock mufflers from the previous owner. I got impatient and purchased my own drag pipes. The new air filter went on without issue. I am still having trouble with the choke but I may have a solution in the works.
Either way, I put on the pipes and went around the block. Died once. Made it home in one piece.
So apparently I have not worked out all the kinks. I got about 2 miles from the house when the bike started to lunge and sputter. I was able to limp the bike back home. Not so much home but on the same block until I had to do the push of shame.
Time to pull the carb and see if it's gummed up again.
