I just picked up my toll tag for the tollway in Austin. It as big as a pack of smokes and just has 2 velcro strips to attach it to the MC. Anyone else figure out a good way to mount this ugly thing to their MC ? I found some mounting hardware on the internet that attaches to the handlebars but I would prefer not to have this mounted on the handlebars because it is ugly and it aint chrome.

Also in Austin. Have the toll tags on all my vehicles. Have held off on putting them on my bikes thus far. If you figure out a way to put it on your bike such that it doesn't look like an eyesore, post a pic if you would. I'd be interested in seeing the final result.
Interesting note, my boss rides the toll road (73) in Orange County. He mounted his on the inside of his saddlebag where is still read by the meter. He has received 2 $275.00 tickets that he is fighting for it not being mounted on the windshield as the officer says is mandated by the contract he signed 10 years ago. It will be interesting to see how court goes for him.
You'd think they could come up with something smaller with all the high tech electronics aroung these days..course what incentive do they have if they run a toll road?
In IL (IPASS) as long as the plate is registered to an active account you will not be penalizedif you slowed down to 45 on throught lanes you'll be a hood ornament have an I-PASS and I received a notice. Why? This notice may have been issued because your transponder was not able to register or your vehicle information was not up to date. All electronic toll collection systems throughout the nation (E-ZPass, SUN-PASS, TOLL-TAG, I-PASS, etc.) filter-out potential violations by cross-checking the event against customer license plates as opposed to checking by customer name. You are only responsible for the unpaid toll amount, which can be deducted from your I-PASS transponder balance provided you were an I-PASS customer at the time the violations occurred, your account is active and you have sufficient funds. No additional fees will be assessed provided this matter is resolved before the issuance of an Impending Suspension Notice. Please call 1-877-715-1235 and a customer service representative will assist you. Please have the following information available when you call: 1) Complete name as it appears on your I-PASS account. 2) Transponder number (found on the bar code label located on the transponder) and/or I-PASS account number. 3) All current license plate numbers and plate types.
Again, to qualify for this option, you must have been a valid I-PASS account holder at the time of these violations occurred.
I have a FasTrak transponder. I fooled around with the saddlebag trick, the jacket pocket trick, and now I just carry it in my pocket and put it on my dash ( RG- it's pretty stable there and has stayed there for over 40 miles ) when I go through the toll booth. Even then it doesn't always trigger the meter. Even in my car, it doesn't always trip the meter, and they always catch up to me and bill me. I don't know if they can read the plate on my bike ( lay-down tag and a TourPak ) but I'm basically an honest person and don't want to cheat anybody- although I don't know WHY I should have to pay as much on a bike as I do in my car. od knows they charger me over double when I tow a double-axel trailer.
Registered my Ultra with the I-Pass here in Illinois, they do a license plate cross check and just debit the account. The last 2 times I rode, I didn't even carry it with me......

i really hate to reply to a thread thats so old but i guess its better than starting a new thread. im looking to get "ez pass" which is equivalent to everyone elses toll road plastic reader that takes the money out of a credit card. im planning on getting http://www.jjcyclepass.com/bike1.htmto mount it, but i really dont want it mounted on my handlebars like its reccomended, i dont have saddle bags or a windshield. i was wondering if anyone else has this and mounted it on their engine guard/crash bar? i dont see why it wouldnt work but you never know. opinions are appreciated
I will still and always refuse to put one of these homing devices anywhere. Nobody has any business knowing I am travelling away from home and what time I go through check point A and check point B. The reason they're not smaller is there's more in there than they're telling you. I just drove the new toll road last week, there's some interesting looking communication structures I had never seen before, speed measurement? Seat belt warning chime detectors? Just can't trust ANY Illinois politicians.
