I have looked at both NXT and ACC DOT helmets on line. Any views on the advantage of one over the other??

Thanks

I have seen both in person. ACC smaller and lighter.

Hey kechour....

Have you, by chance, had the opportunity to compare the ACC DOT helmet to their non-DOT helmet in person?

Just curious.

HI,

Was wondering if anyone actually owns and has worn the above mentioned ACC dot helmet and what their opinion is on it. As I am considering purchasing one . RIde Safe!

Thanks,

Frank

Hey SuperGlide.....

I can give a big thumbs up on both the ACC helmets. I bought one of each. The wife wears the DOT and I wear the non-DOT. I bought the two with the intention of returning one of them and doing an exchange. But as it turns out we each liked the different one. The DOT is a tad bit larger than the non but not by much. It just turned out the no-DOT fit me better and was more comfortable...same with my wife on the DOT fitting for her.

I would not hesitate to buy another one if need be.

Hope this helps,
Brian

I have no experience with the ACC brand but I love the NXT carbon fiber with visor. In my opinion it is one of the lightest and best fitting helmets I have owned. I used to wear one of the HD helmets and I would experience a lot of wind noise and turbulence with it. The NXT is narrower and cuts nicely through the wind nicely. Be sure to try one on for proper fit. They run a little small. I ended up with a Medium+ and I usually wear a Med in others.

I have accumulated probably 6 or 7 helmets over time. The ACC non DOT is the helmet of choice. Excellent fit and secure enough for me. It was cold last week and I put the full coverage HD on only to remove it in favor of the ACC and Schampa mask. Once you wear a good ACC, it's hard to wear anything else.

I was looking at novelty helmets for when I ride into CA...I came to the conclusion that if I'm going to wear one, it might as well be capable of doing it's job. I would recommend shopping until you find a DOT that you like. Seems like if you are going to bother with it, you might as well get something out of it.

Mac

Friendly reminder:

If you are in the military, then REGARDLESS OF RANK, you are REQUIRED to wear a DOT helmet at ALL times, along with gloves, boots, long sleeve shirt, pants, etc. IT'S NOT AN OPTION!!!!!!

I have that helmet in the glossy black...... I really like that zip off thingy...cuts down on the wind noise and feels cozy...when I wear it[sm=guilty.gif]

It does kinda make me look like an alien cause the shell seems so big!
I wear an XS..
