DOT Half Helmet. I had one wreck and I slid on the upper left portion of the helmet right above my left eye maybe 10 feet. Stood up and walked away. Bad road rash on my left arm and side but my face still there. As my wife pulled up in her car to pick me up I needed no reminder why I wear a DOT helmet.
The fellow in front of me on took a corner fast and dug in his forward controls and lost it, he was wearing a novelty helmet, his head hit the gound, he is dead (nice guy 40's). I wear a Nolan artulated helmet, dot approved.

Seems logical to me that if football players wear helmets to run into each other, then it makes sense for me to wear a good one in case I run into something unexpected on my bike as well.

Have both the DOT (over 15yrs old) and a novalty (with added DOT sticker) - after reading this, and the thread started by bajag2, am seriously thinking santa is going to look into a new helmet for me. Like the novelty, but

I have forward controls, I just turned 40 this year, I have a wife and kids, I do not want to have a friend of mine have to be quoted like Johnpaul - dude - sorry for your friend
