So I was just looking thru the video's part of the forum, and poped-up the Hyabusa high-speed run...
My question to you guys (and girls) is this...
What is the fastest you have gone on a public road..???
I had a 2000 CBR929rr that was heavily modified, and the highest number that I actually saw on the digial speedo was 177...from the amount of throttle I had left, and the way it pulled @ the end, I would guess that I actually topped-out about 184 or 185. I know that there are some questions to the accuracy @ that speed - for what it's worth, I had 'YellowBox' Speedo Calibration unit on the bike. The GPS unit that I was using read 191, but I really don't think I hit that.
Aside from that, I was clocked by stationary radar @ 153 on my YZF 600r (also modified)...
As far as in a car...I have been fortunate enough to drive a Viper @ about 150 (too much traffic @ the time to go any faster)..and a Supercharged Acura NSX that was reading about 170 on the clock when I backed-off.
I took my 2000 Yamaha r6 to 157 out on the back side of Angeles Crest Highway. that was all it had. Top gear full throttle. It had a digital speedo too.

Thathad to be scary @ that speed on that bike...I have ridden the R6, as well as the R1, and the 6 is definately intended for the twisties over top-end...The R6 that I rode (a friends) had the Akro exhaust, airbox mod & a PCIII and it read150 or soon the clock when I backed it down...That was a SCARY. Great bikes...they (the R6's) are stillone of the sharpest knives in the drawer when is comes to carving turns.
I've had an early 80s Yamaha 650 Maxim up to 120 whenI was about 17 with my brother on the back. It had more in it but I chickened out.
The fastest I've ever been on public roads was actually in a car. I was in a friends Chevelle, 67 I think, and he hit 150. Definately scared the **** out of me.
On my 97 sportster @ 6500 rpm 215 kph around 135 mph very scary
built1980 dodge diplomat wagon sleeper 360 motor, cam, head work, streetmaster intake, 1050 carb, 270 kph 165 mph started to shake real bad so I had to back off, that and traffic was coming up real fast..I miss that car ,the salt ate it...Mark...

I know what you mean about the shaking. I had my old 67 Mustang with a 351C out of a 73 Torino Station Wagon up to about 120 one time and it started shaking so badI thought it was gonna fall apart. Notice I said one time, I never took it up to those speeds again.
After we took the straight 6 out of it and put the 351C in we noticed the carb linkage for the 6 was on the opposite side andso a guy rigged up some linkage out of some spare parts. Anyways when ever theengine was revved up sometimes the linkage would get caught on the intake manifold and make the accelerator stick wide open. One night at a Darryl Starbird cruise in Oklahoma City I was beside a nice Camaro at the stoplight and he started revving his engine so I of course had to one up him so i did the same and started peeling out. The Camaro finally gave up and left while I was still going with smoke and burned rubber flying. Everyone was cheering but what they didn't realize is my accelerator was stuck andI was panicking and couldn't think to simply just shut it off with the key.
I loved the car but it had serious brake and handling problems. It's probably a good thing I sold it before I killed myself.
