One night my bud got snot slingin' drunk, so I drove him home in his car. Late'80's IROC Z with a ton of mods.
When I passed the cop, he clocked me @111 in a posted 35 mph construction zone.
Just because the subject is top speeds, check out this video of the World record for top speed bullet Trains broken just last week - 357.2 mph (574.8 kph)! Nope, not magnetic levitation like the Jap bullet trains, rather 25,000 horsepower electric engine being driven by a 31,000 overhead electrical source. Jet aircraft used to follow and shoot video - it's the only thing that could keep up! Impressive video within this link:
So I was just looking thru the video's part of the forum, and poped-up the Hyabusa high-speed run...
My question to you guys (and girls) is this...
What is the fastest you have gone on a public road..???
I had a 2000 CBR929rr that was heavily modified, and the highest number that I actually saw on the digial speedo was 177...from the amount of throttle I had left, and the way it pulled @ the end, I would guess that I actually topped-out about 184 or 185. I know that there are some questions to the accuracy @ that speed - for what it's worth, I had 'YellowBox' Speedo Calibration unit on the bike. The GPS unit that I was using read 191, but I really don't think I hit that.
Aside from that, I was clocked by stationary radar @ 153 on my YZF 600r (also modified)...
As far as in a car...I have been fortunate enough to drive a Viper @ about 150 (too much traffic @ the time to go any faster)..and a Supercharged Acura NSX that was reading about 170 on the clock when I backed-off.
On my 1990 Kawasaki ZX10, I decided I wanted to experience "the thrill" I pulled 160 mph on route 95on a huge straight stretch of highwayin Maine. At 160everything was nothing but a blur, I quickly thought to myself: "what if my front tire blows?" I have 2 young kids, and a wife. Thats was the one and only time I wanted "the thrill"
