Old video & rider simply went into corner too hot, incorrectly and tried to be too cool when he obviously wasn't...

When he cracked the throttle and broke the rear tire loose that was what caused the crash. If he would have continued to let the speed bleed off and rode it through he would have made the turn. He still had blacktop under his wheels and a couple more feet before the edge of the pavement which he should have used to his advantage instead of steering away from the edge and cracking the throttle.
