Just more bullshit, nanny state, over-reaching government crap not actually intended to increase safety but revenue. They can suck my right nut until my left one grows jealous.

Hop a jet sometime and see how good the drivers are in the UK, you may change your mind. Guys here are always bitching about bad cagers, the UK drivers are way better than US drivers. No one is on the phone or texting, they take driving serious. I'm not Brit by the way...

In my view good driving is based on enforcement. I have seen here in my little part of Canada that the police do not enforce the motor vehicle act. This "graduated" licensing program allows the lack of enforcement to continue.

Case in point. We had a bunch of red light and speed on green cameras installed throughout the city. The justification was that it would slow people down and prevent accidents. After roughly three years the revenue raised from this 'safety' program continues to rise. They have so much money now they are installing even more cameras. It is quite obvious that these systems are only good for one thing; raising revenue.

My point is that good drivers are developed through experience and having the rules enforced by the police. Everything else is lipstick on a pig.

I think there is truth to the view that those afraid of tiered licensing are probably against it because they know they could not pass the skills test on their current >650cc ride.

But everyone should calm down as I don't think it would happen. Tiered licensing would be a big headache for the state DMV and would just add extra red tape and expense. Having to test people when they move up to a bigger class of bike means more lines at the DMV offices, which are already packed on any given day.
