My son and I were on our annual bike/camping trip in Yellowstone. Figured the last two days we would spend seeing the start of the rally being we were going right by on the way back to Illinois. Stopped at McDonalds for a quick bite and some fluids before seeing some of the sights. My son always hangs his half helmet off his right highway peg. Been doing this for years, never a problem. Sure as **** some Dic#wad swipes it. H#ll it was only a $35 Skid Lid but sure pissed me off. The parking lot was packed and I mean packed. We usually sit by a window and keep the bikes where you could keep you eye on them. Sure would have loved to seen the thief in action. The helmet was a few years old with lots and I mean lots of old hair in it as I looked at it just the day before because my son was complaining how his head itched. Told him to clean the liner, well he doesn't need to worry about that now. (Why would someone even want a old used helmet in that condition is beyond me)
Glad it wasn't something substantial like his Zumo 665 or his wallet or the entire bike for that matter!!! A small price to make you think twice about locking up your stuff ALWAYS!!!!
I hate thieves!!!! Had my cheap skid lid stolen once, and I'm in a helmet law state. Thankfully, it was dark and I only had to ride about 3 miles home. Did I say I hate thieves???
I'm with you... why? Some people just take stuff they don't even want or care about just because they can, I guess. People that steal no matter how big or small drive me crazy!
Sorry to hear that. That's the opposite of my experience up there. I've always left my helmet hanging from my footpeg, and my jacket bungeed to my handlebars, with no problems. I've never parked in a place like Mickey D's, though, always on Main Street.
