When I first did this on mine, the cable broke in my hands fron neglect from a previous owner....been doing it ever since. Tim

Yeah, but each time I wonder whether it is worth the trouble, especially the throttle cables. Worrying about losing the "ferrule" makes this project tense.

Once a season they get lubed. I use PJ1 cable lube now. But I've used a bunch of different products of the years. Including 3 in 1 oil and gun oil. You don't need to soak 'em, otherwise it'll drip all over your engine. Afew drops on the throttle cable and idler cable should do. While you're in there grease the throttle grip too. I lube the clutch cable when I adjust the clutch, normally every 5K.

If you use the applicator that comes with this product, you have no worries about the ferrels at all, they stay attached and you lube into the cable jacket past them

What do you guys use? i use some kind of super oil i get from the HD. Will check the name next time i go down to the garge.
I have been using Motion Pro cable lube.Motorcycle accessorie stores sell a few different brands,which will probly all work the same.

If you just take the control housing top cover off and then spray some lube in the well in the bottom half and let it soak in, you won't have to be messing with the ferrule. Just spray, let soak, and repeat until you are satisfied that the cable is lubed.

You dont need a clutch cable unless you stop!!

my preferred lube - don't leave home without it!!



Seriously - I use Dri Slide. Its got a great little needle applicator, very easy to use.
