I get around 30 mpg if I do nothing but city riding... however, I tend to launch hard at every light, hehehe... the best I've ever gotten was 48 mpg during a group ride through the local hills here last summer. I usually average around 40 - 42 mpg on the highway, travelling around 70 -75 mph.
Igot a bit over 35 mpg on my last tank...I thought maybe it was the gas (bought from a cheapo station) but it's looking like I'm not gonna do much better on this tank. I put in 4 gallons last time at a decent station.
Does that sound right? I do about 16-18 miles each wayabout 5 milesis on surface streets.
Keep in mind they put the summer blends in the gas too (more ethanol I believe), which is going to kill gas mileage for everyone out there.
I typically get about 38-40mpg. I have no clue how these guys are getting 50mpg! Makes me feel like a real larda$$ or something!
Mine gets about 38mpg in all local riding to and from work. Before the Stage 1 rejet, however, it got closer to 45mpg. However, actually being able to start the motorcycle without having to keep the enricher out for 3 minutes, and having a smoother idle makes it worth it. If I hit highways then I do a lot better. Oh, my Sporty is a 1200, though. Still a couple hundred pounds lighter than the Softail, though.
You are doing about right. Think about the time you save by riding to work, and th epeace of mind by being on the scoot.
I don't know about saving time -- put on chaps, helmet Gloves, glasses...take dress shoes to change into when you get there after you strip all that crap off. I am getting faster at it....
Do like dress pants under the lined chaps...it's actuallypretty comfy.
Mostly I'm saving gas over my 6 cyl. Though I took the car to work cause it was supposed to rain and at luch drove home and got the bike....That's not saving gas!!!
