Thought I'd toss this in here - While you're saving money on gas, are you saving overall when you factor in tire wear, oil changes, etc.? I ran the numbers on my bike vs. THE MAMA's Freestyle for my typical 20,000 mile year. Costs about $2,000 for the bike and about $2,600 for the car. Puts it into a little better perspective. Bike still wins, but the margin isn't much. Big thing is that the bike wins by about eleventy-seven ka-jillion in the smile department.

Gas for crossover SUV (6 cyl car/truck thing)for a month: $260 or so @ 3.25
Gas for Bike: $130 or so @ 3.25
I do about 15k a year in the car that's change the oil every 3500 miles + a major service between $100 & $400
If I did the same on the bike I would haveat least 1major service a year plus oil changes if I choose. (Possibly a second major serviceif I have a new bike) plus 1 to 2 sets of tires?
The tires is what could cost me in the long run for savings but Its still a savings overall....but I have a way better time getting to work The maintenance is about the same but I do save at least $1500 in gas.
Anyway...it only takes a little savings at a time to save a lot of money in the long run
One of the big reasons I started to riding to work nearly every day is because of the amount I save in gas alone. I was filling my PU every 5 days to the tune of about $60 to $70. EVERY FIVE DAYS.
I can ride my sporty all month for around $50. You can add lots of stuff like wear and tear, etc and it still would take ALOT to come up near even with the sporty.
Mine seems to come in right at 39-40. My daily commute is 54 miles round trip, it's a mixed type commute, parkway, city, residentual. I have the PC III, SE air, Rinehart slip-ons, and a dyno tune.
glad I have an old carb model 04 I get on average 48/50 miles to gallon two up on alone 70/90 miles per . grade of gas makes no difference have used all grades (reg was an acc.)
