Default Do curled out windshields really work?

I'm still on a quest to make a large bike fit a small guy. My new (to me) 2011 Road Glide Ultra has been lowered 1 1/2 inches in the rear and 1 1/4 inches in the front. I took off the Sun Ray heated seat that came on the bike and put on a stock Street Glide seat so now I can flat foot it quite well.

But lowering the seat has put the stock, 16" windshield well over my head, and I am now looking for a shield I can see over rather than through...which leads me to my question.

Do the aftermarket windshields with a little curled out section at the top actually turn the air up over your head as claimed? I mean, I am no aeronautical engineer, but it looks to me like that little curl would just introduce a lot of turbulence and probably some distortion as well.

Is anyone running a Klock Werks, WindVest, LRS or something similar, and if so, does that little flip work or is it all just marketing hype?

I put the LRS 16" on my Heritage. My stock shield was smack in the middle of my sight line so I either had to stretch to look over or scrunch down to look through it. The new LRS is the perfect height for me to see over the shield. I'm no aeronautical engineer either, but I get none of the issues you referred to. This shield is one of the best changes I made to my bike. I highly recommend it.

I have a LRS recurve shield on my King. Yeah, they really work. Even though the LRS shield is 1.5" lower than the stock shield, it reduces buffeting compared to the stocker.

Yes they work. Measure properly so that the shield comes up to the bottom of your nose and you'll be fine.

As said above, my stock shield on my Heritage was right in my line of site. I went with the LRS 2inches under stock and its GREAT! Superb service and they're a sponsor (see their link in vendors). Its a major difference and I higher recommend this product.

I put a Klock Werks 9" I believe on the SG for long runs on the slab. I have no issue with it at all. I can put my hand just outside of either upswept curves and you can feel the air rush around it. When I transition to the stock low shield for around town you can feel the difference.

I've had LRS shields on my Road King and now my Road Glide - assuming you have the proper size, they work very well.

How tall are you? I'm one of the few that didn't mind looking through my RK windshield. It just got old and I thought of it as another chance to upgrade, while maintaining the bike. I got the upturned Klockwerks billboard shield. I like the quality and I have no buffering issues, but the turn out at the top is right in my line of sight. I may check out the LRS shield.
